20 year old Ka Wai Cheung from Honk Kong who was the 2015 IBSF World Under-18 Snooker Champion had a great week in Germany winning the Challenge Tour Event One taking the first prize of £2,000.
Cheung beat Sanderson Lam 3-1 in round one, Ronan Whyte 3-0 in round two, Lukas Kleckers 3-1 in round three, Zak Surety 3-2 in the quarters, Patrick Whelan 3-0 in the semis and Oliver Brown 3-1 in the final.
It was sad to hear that the playing conditions where not up to the usual standard of world snooker events. Players complaints included daylight shining on the tables, the cloths being old, worn and slow. The balls were old and discoloured, the white ball smaller than the other balls and the pockets were larger than normal star tables. Let’s hope the rest of the challenge tour events enjoys a higher standard of playing conditions.
