Stephen Maguire defeated his fellow World Cup winning doubles partner John Higgins 8-6 to become the 6 red World Champion for the second time. In doing so he pocketed 4 million Baht ( £106,000 ). Its Maguires best start to a season for over a decade having already pocketed £70,000 with his half of the World Cup doubles victory. Confidence is one of the most important things to have in top flight sport and I’m sure we will see Maguire lift many more titles this season. It’s no surprise to see him back at the top of the game where he belongs as himself, Higgins and McGill have been beating each other up on a daily basis in their new practice facility in Glasgow dubbed “the office”. Add to that the valuable 6 red frames experience Maguire and Higgins had at a recent fundraiser Exhibition in Tjs bar Motherwell, no doubt the pair will volunteer for the same thing next year.
